Pinpointing with the Sovereign GT.......:sadwalk:

Several years back, when I had my Sovereign XS, the recommended method of pinpointing was to sweep the coil up to the target until just hearing it's signal which would mean that the target was about an inch in front of the leading edge of the coil.Or we could sweep until the strongest signal was obtained which would mean that the target was just beneath the leading edge of the coil. Are these still the recommended methods or do we now pinpoint as we do when using a concentric coil where the strongest signal would be heard at the middle of the coil? The manual really doesn't cover pinpointing very well and I have noticed that alot of my finds seem to be a couple of inches closer to the middle of the coil, real close to where I'm sticking the shovel into the ground. I'd really hate to damage a good find just because I wasn't pinpointing properly. Please Help!
Thanks, Bottlebum

I think you are finding out that good targets do show up in the middle of the coil. It should also be the strongest sounding signal.

If you do the '90 degree' re-check, you should be a little more exact.

Hopefully you will learn where your particular machine/coil combination is actually pointing to.

p.s. all of my coils point towards the center.
