Finally got around to trying out the PIONEER EX my great grand kids gave me for Christmas. I guess they thought my over twenty year old Whites (EAGLE SPECTRUM & XLT SPECTRUM) and Garretts (FREEDOM II) were outdated, LOL. Anyway its the thought behind the gift that counts the most and it will make a good detector for them to use when they come visit.
Assembled the detector, read the instructions and off I went to a local school playground. My first thoughts were I was impressed with the simplicity of operation and its light weight. Two hours later after finding 2 Quarters, 1 Nickle, 4 Pennies, 3 Dimes, 2 Gold Charms (10 k & 14 k), 3 Sterling .925 Silver items (Charm, Z ear stud and Hair clasp), Junk ring, Toy car and other items I was even more impressed and decided it had earned a place in my detector arsenal. I did not notch out any target segments and would not have found the two gold charms if I had as they gave both a low audio sound and Iron visual indication but all targets including a lot of aluminum trash not shown gave good loud repeatable tones and visual IDs.
