Plan B

Got up before the sun all excited on hunting a football field after last nights game, intent on doing some bleacher diving...but, there were all sorts of people there for some reason, so Plan B.
Hit this place before, and thought I'd get the pennys and nickles today, Still chock full of Q's and D's! Had the F70 set at disc3, thresh -5, sens 60 De mode, DP tones, 11"dd (sorry MiJason, I'll give that 10 a try soon).
Nice damp ground, had some rain this week, easy retrieval, and great signals, most of these targets were subsurface to 5" max.
Hit a stack of 4 Q's, 1 D, and 1 N which helped out tremendously, signal in the low 90's. Hit a tight spill of dimes, which were hard to chase around through the grass and dirt, ( where are you little coil?) so I started at the outside edge and worked my way in. Both end zones arn't mowed, but the F70 pulled a few more 3" q's outta there with the coil 5" above the ground. That told me if there was a deeper silver, I'd still hear it. Real happy with the numbers, I dont kneel to dig, I sort of bend over like a giraffe when its drinking, and stab with the screwdriver, drop the detector, ream out a hole, and fish out the coin, its really fast on targets 5" or less. You just gotta be careful you dont tip the coin on edge and make more work for yourself. All in all, it was a great morning, and I came home feeling fantastic, like usual! Thanks Fisher!

Nice collection of coins. 28 quarters/28 dimes nice job. That is some good detecting. Yes it is a bugger if that coin goes on end. When that happens a few second stab becomes minutes of probing. I kneel on one knee to pop the coins. My back bothers me if I just bend down a lot. I use a 9" screw driver to pop the coins and it also helps me get up and down. Next time at Sears I am thinking of getting a 14"-16" screw driver. Mainly to help me get up and down.
Nice detecting Mud. Happy Trails.....Z

take a look on K.ellyco and look at the Wilcox ALL PRO NO 2 digger. It is 18" in total length with a 6" x 2" blade. It is not intrusive looking for the likes of parks and school yards (I hold it down along my left leg) and cuts a nice small plug and is sturdy. I, too, get down on one knee and use the Wilcox for assisting getting up. Not that I need help, you understand. HH jim tn

I was dropping to one knee, then, the wife started in on the disposition of my trousers, how one leg was wornt the H out...so I modified my behavior.:surrender:
It helps if you have short little legs like me, its not really a squat, or bend, just sort of a wide legged stoop. Say, thats what my wife calls me "wide legged stoop"
Anyway, its quick, 10 seconds from target hit to pouch, no trace left at all, the glutes sure feel it though, or whatever those big muscles are that I sit on.

First of all you should have detecting clothes for detecting only. This is what my wife tells me. If I am going to go detecting I must wear my detecting clothes. I had the one dirty knee thing some time ago. Oh boy I got a good pair of pants grass stained. The way the wife went on you would have thought I had ruined my good Walmart pants.:bouncy: I got a cheap pair of knee pads and only use one knee pad at a time. One pair of knee pads lasts 2 times longer and no dirty knee. Mud I sure do know about those sore muscles. Wow!! Some times I think I have some how gotten into a 140 year old mans body and he took mine.
Jim thanks for the Wilcox digging tool idea. That would be great in the tot lots. Thanks guys....Z

Hey Mud, do you use a pinpointer at all?

I use a Garret Pro Pointer and I find it's most handy when getting those shallow mems. It's one thing to get a coin out of 6 or 7 inches, but the most torment anyone can have is one of those surface mems that's reading 3".

At a few clad gatherings I've thought it would be easier to have a shoulder mount for the F70, wheels on the knees, and the pinpointer hanging from my neck.

Nice haul there!
