planning a trip to Tybee Island, Savannah, GA

Planning a 2-3 day metal detecting trip to Tybee Island. I will be taking my dog. Does anyone know of some other beach areas nearby that are dog friendly? I know you cannot take dogs on the Tybee Island beach.

I plan on hunting the public beach down around 14-18th streets on the south part of the Island.

Hot sand will blister your dogs feet if you are out there during the heat of the day. Beaches in my area do not allow dogs on the beach when it is that hot and dogs must be on a leash..

My wife and I just got back from Tybee Island about 3 weeks ago. You are correct in that Dog's aren't allowed on the beach down there. We saw a lady with a rather large dog, a Bermadoodle, (Burmese Mountain dog and Poodle) coming out from a condo right on the beach and her dog couldn't go on the beach. The lady said they were from Minnesota. What a shame. We have two Aussie's that we boarded while we gone. I'm glad we did. Best of luck to you hunting on Tybee Island.
