Platinum with 4 Inch coil

abingo

New member
Bounty hunter Platinum with the 4" Inch Gold nugget coil.
Has any one used this coil with the Platinum? Will it pick up smaller jewelry than the standard coil?

I haven't tested the 4 in coil con the platinum but as for why a smaller coil will detect better smaller object it's an easy answer. Even if the detector has the same frequency it projects it signal in a more concentrated pattern, so it can pick up smaller objects. It is more or less like if you placed a magnifying glass in front of your eyes, light concentrates making it easyer to see small objects. Only disadvantage is that it Won't go as deep as the bigger coil, and it will search a smaller area at a time.

I use my 4" coil on my BH Pioneer 505 almost exclusively. I love it. True its not as deep as a larger coil but in my opinion it does find smaller targets and works well in trashy areas. Not to mention the tight spots you can get into. Good luck and HH. Matt

The regular 4 inch BH "gold nugget" coil (such as is used on the 505, Time Ranger, etc.) won't work on the Platinum. Sorry, don't recall whether or not we make a 4 incher for the Platinum.
