I have owned the wot for at least 5 years and am very plesed with it any reason for the plat i usually field hunt. same depth? as the wot or what whats the hype about the plat? is it because its new? just curious strange Andy s. was in charlottesville and wrote a test report on it but i was whith him at the time interesting that i never saw the coil.

So you're insinuating that he faked the field test report? Hmm...I highly doubt that.
Interesting that you would go out hunting with him and then throw something like that out in a public forum. I'd have to be pretty sure about something like that before I questioned somebody's integrity.

all isaid was i didnt see the coil so i dont know what it can do ,he was using a sunray 5 or 8 inch at the time

Maybe you should ask Andy before you post such an insinuation.

this is not about Andy hes agreat guy and made time for me i must have made it sound the wrong way i apologize its just that i was using a wot all day and youd think he would be like hey i have this new coil by doc you ought to check it out. but back to the real question would the plat be worth the investment if i already have the wot?

From all I read and Andy's report and I am not quoting anyone. It would be good to use as the shape can get into more places that the 10 inch coil. I think if you look back about 1.5 weeks DOC and others that have gotten them are pleased with it as it is lighter (or feels that way), some same the depth is a little better and some do not. It gets 1.5 more inches of coverage. I do not think anyone has done a head to head on it -VS- the stock coil as they probably have not had the chance yet. I am thinking that in a couple of weeks we will see some positive and maybe negitive reports. Again, there are a few already posted from about the 24th of March to maybe the 27th or so, on page 2 of the fourm. Hope this helps,
Jim

just curiuos the wot rocks had it forever and it just keeps on tickin, any upgrades in the future like new technology for the wot just want the best

yes i did he had serial number 000000000000000001 and have the second copy of his new book

Leonard (and others with similar questions),
Your post is ill-worded at best and I (and I'm sure Doc does as well) take afront to it.
<span style="background-color:#ffff00;"><STRONG>1) "Funny I did not see the coil"</STRONG></span>
Yes, I did spend a few hours with you in Charlottesville but as I made it very clear to you, I was going to be in the area for 3 weeks and hunted with you one day. I came across several landowners at the site I worked at that offered their land to me and no, you were not with me. In case you or any others question why when they hunt with me they do not see prototype equipment, it because the manufacturers have asked that it remain private! I had a Quattro from Mibnelab starting in March 2004 and put more than 200 hours on it in the field and no one saw it! I was asked (or rather had to sign an agreement) to that effect.
So Leonard, I had two prototype coils from Doc and no, you did not see either one becasuse I was asked for feedback without publicizing them. The second one never went into production based on my and other feedback Coiltek received on it.
So, <STRONG>INTERESTING </STRONG>you never saw the coil???? It was done intentionally so that it was not announced on the forums as soon as I pulled out of your driveway which is probably what would have happened.
Since you have impuned my integrity about the testing I did, do I need to provide you with locations I hunted without you in your home town?
I provided Doc and Coiltek with an honest assessment of the new coil and they posted it on the forums.
<span style="background-color:#ffff00;"><STRONG>2) WHAT IS THE ADVANTAGE OF THE NEW COIL???</STRONG></span>
Well, if you had read the report or Doc's literature, you would see that it was never intended to be a WOT replacement coil. The WOT is fine in certain areas but not in trashy sites. Glad you find yourself using it all the time but I can assure you - and I told you that in January - that the WOT is masking targets in some of the trashy areas you hunt. The Platypus coil is a great replacement cooil for the stock one that is better balanced, allows one to get into tighter spots and has a better search pattern that the stock one. You can use it much more than the WOT in a wide range of sites. Does the WOT go deeper or cover mopre ground than the Platypus or stock coil? Of course and that is why people use them! The same comment applies to smaller coils - there are ideal for certain applications but the stock or Platypus is the all purpose coil.
So, if you are happy with what you are finding with your WOT, by all means stick with it. If you really think that you are able to hunt high trash and not miss targets due to masking, all the better for those that use other coils.
But do not impune my integrity or that of Doc who is about as honest as anyone I've met. The products he markets are made by a company that will not sell something that does not offer users some advantage over what is already available.
And as far as not seeing prototype equipment, your comments may just be the reason why you and others do not see them until they are ready for final production!
OK, I'll step off the soapbox!
Andy Sabisch

Leonard,
I'm somewhat sorry for having gotten involved with you if these are the posts you make.
No, you saw NOTHING that was a prototype when I came by in January 2005. The Quattor had been out since November 2004 and I had serial number 001 with me which has since gone back to the factory. No prototype, simply the forst production model.
As far as my book, guess what . . . . there are many, many (did I say many) people that have copies of the Quattro book. I gave you a copy 3 days after I received them from the printer, so yes, you got one of the first copies but it was not a secret as the dealers were all aware it was coming as were users who had seen the posts.
So please, read the my and Doc's posts and realize why some equipment is held tight to the vest before release.
Andy Sabisch

Leonard,
Not sure who you were hunting with but when I was with you in January, I used two coils - both were from Detech in Europe and I was providing them with feedback on some new coil windings they have come out with. Might want to refresh your memory as the coil I used MOST of the time was a 12.5" Double-D. I tried the 8 inch concentric in the high trash areas at the last site only.
So, no 5" or 8" Sunray coil was even with me on that trip.
Andy

What you said was this:
<FONT COLOR="#ff0000"><STRONG>strange Andy s. was in charlottesville and wrote a test report on it but i was whith him at the time interesting that i never saw the coil. </STRONG></FONT>
Now if that isn't an insinuation that he fabricated the report, then exactly what was <FONT COLOR="#ff0000"><STRONG>STRANGE</STRONG></FONT> or <FONT COLOR="#ff0000"><STRONG>INTERESTING</STRONG></FONT> about it? <img src="/metal/html/shrug.gif" border=0 width=37 height=15 alt=":shrug">
(That's a rhetorical...answer not required nor desired)
I just feel you did the man wrong with your flippant attack on his integrity, particularly given his long history of contribution to the hobby and the fact that he's always eager to help anybody, anytime.
