Leonard (and others with similar questions),
Your post is ill-worded at best and I (and I'm sure Doc does as well) take afront to it.
<span style="background-color:#ffff00;"><STRONG>1) "Funny I did not see the coil"</STRONG></span>
Yes, I did spend a few hours with you in Charlottesville but as I made it very clear to you, I was going to be in the area for 3 weeks and hunted with you one day. I came across several landowners at the site I worked at that offered their land to me and no, you were not with me. In case you or any others question why when they hunt with me they do not see prototype equipment, it because the manufacturers have asked that it remain private! I had a Quattro from Mibnelab starting in March 2004 and put more than 200 hours on it in the field and no one saw it! I was asked (or rather had to sign an agreement) to that effect.
So Leonard, I had two prototype coils from Doc and no, you did not see either one becasuse I was asked for feedback without publicizing them. The second one never went into production based on my and other feedback Coiltek received on it.
So, <STRONG>INTERESTING </STRONG>you never saw the coil???? It was done intentionally so that it was not announced on the forums as soon as I pulled out of your driveway which is probably what would have happened.
Since you have impuned my integrity about the testing I did, do I need to provide you with locations I hunted without you in your home town?
I provided Doc and Coiltek with an honest assessment of the new coil and they posted it on the forums.
<span style="background-color:#ffff00;"><STRONG>2) WHAT IS THE ADVANTAGE OF THE NEW COIL???</STRONG></span>
Well, if you had read the report or Doc's literature, you would see that it was never intended to be a WOT replacement coil. The WOT is fine in certain areas but not in trashy sites. Glad you find yourself using it all the time but I can assure you - and I told you that in January - that the WOT is masking targets in some of the trashy areas you hunt. The Platypus coil is a great replacement cooil for the stock one that is better balanced, allows one to get into tighter spots and has a better search pattern that the stock one. You can use it much more than the WOT in a wide range of sites. Does the WOT go deeper or cover mopre ground than the Platypus or stock coil? Of course and that is why people use them! The same comment applies to smaller coils - there are ideal for certain applications but the stock or Platypus is the all purpose coil.
So, if you are happy with what you are finding with your WOT, by all means stick with it. If you really think that you are able to hunt high trash and not miss targets due to masking, all the better for those that use other coils.
But do not impune my integrity or that of Doc who is about as honest as anyone I've met. The products he markets are made by a company that will not sell something that does not offer users some advantage over what is already available.
And as far as not seeing prototype equipment, your comments may just be the reason why you and others do not see them until they are ready for final production!
OK, I'll step off the soapbox!
