Greetings All,
I was reading a post asking about the Platypus coil and why there's not much hoopulah on the coil. I'm restricted on time but I finally got out for the first time this spring last Saturday for just two hours. I found half a dozen wheat cents, 2 Mercury dimes (1942 & 1945). Coils are just another tool in your arsenal for the job of finding coins. I used my Platypus coil because I needed depth in trash down to about 7-8 inches, at least. My little Joey coil is great but, will not achieve the depth I need in trash. The elliptical coil of both the Joey and Platypus helps alot in seperating and isolating trash under the coil. I have much better results with the ellipticals in trashy areas. To be honest and make a reccomendation, I don't like swinging the Joey or Platypus. The stock 10.5 inch Explorer coil is beveled and will slide over the growth. The straight lines of the other coils stop the machine like a brick wall hitting anything. They are great coils, but would be much better if they would bevel the edges. Just my 2 1/2 cents worth... HH
