Playing around again, Toltec II mod

Previously assembled the Toltec onto a Tesoro Umax 3 piece s-handle to make it more compact for storage and travel.
One thing that sort of bothered me was the weight in its original configuration. Not too well balanced, felt heavy.

This morning tried something different.
Mounted the main control box under the armrest, controls facing forward.
Immediately noticed the balance was like night and day over the old configuration. Balances perfect and feels like a lightweight Tesoro.
Controls are still easy to access with the left hand as is the all-metal/disc/retune toggle.
The control box sits just a bit lower off the handle because of the mounting bracket. Works out well as it rests behind your thigh, so it does not hit your leg.
You can swing it like a Umax, relaxed arm position and the coil a few inches in front of your feet.

I really like this Toltec II now.

One last mod was removing the ground balance trimmer pot off the PCB and making it an external control. Marked the housing to where
Tesoro orig. preset the GB value used on the trimmer pot.

Already had a few treasure hunters wanting to buy or trade for my Toltec, sorry you can't have it....LOL

I don't have to lift up the detector, stretch my detector arm out to make adjustments or use the pinpoint/retune/disc toggle switch.
With the controls mounted forward, all I have to do is reach forward with my left hand while the detector arm is still in the hunting position.
It may look odd but, it works. It also keeps the long extension cable from having to be wrapped around the search coil cable ahead of the meter,
which makes it easier to change search coils if needed.
