PLEASE! Garrett. Come out with a new light weight Top of the line machine.

For the past two years I have been asking the same question in the forums. When is Garrett going to come out with a new lineup of machines? I still use my Garrett GTAx-1250, along with my other brand machine. I have been tempted to sell the GTA many times so I can put the $$ towards one of the many new machines the other companies are coming out with. But in the end I just don't feel right not having a Garrett as one of my two machines. I have been waiting and waiting and nothing has been said about a new Garrett machine. I wish Garrett would come out with a new type of GTA or GTI that is light weight and has all the bells and whistles. I could have easily purchased the GTI 2500, but I am getting tired of the heavy 8 AA battery machines. It is not that I am a weakling, I just want something lighter and powerful. PLEASE! Garrett stop the agonizing wait. The season will be over soon and I will ditch the Garrett if nothing new comes out by next March 09. I love the user friendliness of the Garrett's, but it looks like them other manufactures are going in the right direction and I only hope Garrett will keep up with the current tech scene. I would like to see a light weight machine with true all metal mode, adjustable ground balance with tracking, notch disc, large LCD target id with a back light, etc etc.
Come on Garrett show the other manufactures that you guys are the leaders.

Thanks for reading

Yeah I keep hoping too bud but I ain't heard anything promising. They can't ride the 250 wave forever. Course the few companies that have come out with something new haven't improved much on what Garrett has. That's why the 250 still sells like a house afire.

I agree. I bought a GTI 2500 last month and I love the way the detector works, but I have to admit I sometimes wish I bought a different detector. I have a bad elbow and after an hour it's weight gets too much and causes me alot of pain swinging it. I've tried removing the battery back to my belt and that gets cumbersome with the cord stretching to the detector. I am going to try an elbow brace and if that doesn't help maybe buy a "Swingy Thing".

If Garrett would just get off it's hind end an put out a smaller concentric coil, say a 7 or even an 8 inch
coil for the Ave 250 that would be great!

Whats taking you so long?[/size]

Well in defence of Garrett, the GTI 2500 wieghs 4.6 lbs...the popular Whites MXT weighs 4.3 lbs. Not a whle difference really. The GTI gets a little heavy sometime, I just switch arms for awhile, not a big deal cause that Imaging feature is too good to give up for another machine, Plus the all metal mode is usually deeper than the competition. I would just like to see a new top end Garrett no matter what it is.

I have a 2500 for last 7 years, and since I got a swingy-thingy, I can detect all day with out any pain. It really does not matter the weight of your machine when you use this device. Simple, cheap, and easy to use! I dont sell them but just want to pass the word to all that gripe about heavy machines...

I just ordered a swingy thing last night, hope I can get more than an hour or so in with my 2500 with it, without my bum elbow killing me.

If this does not relieve your arm pain, nothing will. You can actually adjust it so you have to lightly push the detector to the ground, but the only real movement of your arm will be to move detector side to side...

I think that light weight should be the most logical direction to move in. It would seem that the electronics seem to have plateaued, so improving the ergonomics would be the best other option. i see Whites has just done it with the T6. It still runs on 8 batteries, but only weighs 3 pounds. I'm not sure that I like their ID scale though. If the XLT is anything to go by, I feel that it just bounces around too much for my liking. I like the 24 notch approach. Having a tone for each notch would be nice, some folks wouldn't like that though.
