Please help ID this stone

About all I can say is that its crystal form is cubic.
Does your post mean that it is FROM the Johannesburg area or just that she obtained it from someone there?

Its kinda iffy to id a rock from just pictures. Her best bet is to take it to the local college geology dept and ask someone there. They will be happy to help. Another way is to take it to a gem/mineral show- they often have a table just to help folk id stuff + theres lots of knowledgeable folks there. Good Luck.

Meanwhile better pix from several angles and some common object (finger, coin, ruler) to give scale would help. With good pix and sometimes a bit of other information we have a pretty good track record of being able to identify stuff here.
