Please ID this old silver coin :unsure:

Found it this afternoon in an old field. I guess its another Reale ? Sorry but the reverse side is smooth and cannot be read. Need help. I cant see too good up close....even with magnification... lol. Thanks. CCH

What kind of soil conditions cause the golden patina on it? Never saw that effect on silver here in Oregon.

Lighting will play tricks on you. I'll guess incandescent lighting. On the kitchen breakfast bar to be more specific..........

You are right Larry. Just lighting from the lamp shade as I was trying to illuminate the remaining features of the coin itself. Its very silver indeed.

I recently heard that photographing under a (white) or daylight fluorescent bulb of the new style gives a better view of small items like our finds. Now that you can buy the new bulbs in different color variations they can have specific places where they're better used. Naturally a flash would wipe out close ups.

Just a bit of image processing magic.

To any-one taking digital photos under artificial light, check in your camera manual or menu. You will find that there is usually setting for the lighting conditions you are working with.
CCH took his photo under tungsten lighting (old type light bulb) which renders everything reddish orange to the camera.
Compact fluorescent bulbs render a greenish cast, that is why most people dislike these stupid new power saving lamps.

Anyway, if you set your camera to the correct lighting conditions your photos will be much closer to the original color
