Please keep an eye out......

Dad & I spent most of the AM and into early afternoon replacing his front door with a steel insulated model, with just a small glass at the top (neither large enough to crawl through, or reach the locks to gain entry), and added a peep-hole to the door. We also added a deadbolt to the (attached) garage door along with a new lockset (to be sure no spare keys were taken). We'll get the new storm door hung tomorrow (had to rip some jamb extensions). I feel better knowing that at least the doors are more secure, and getting through either of them would give dad time to grab a weapon and protect him, his wife, and his property.

And they caught the scumbag this time. He broke a window out of the back of the garage, reached through and unlocked the door. He had to force it open because dad has a heavy laundry table in front of the door. Scumbag then used a hatchet to chop a hole in the door from the garage to the house. I'm sure it was the same guy, he did the same thing by bringing all my stepmothers jewelery boxes downstairs so he could keep watch as he went through them. Also the only drawer in their bedroom opened was the one he'd taken money from last time.

Neighbors saw the guy knock on the front door, and after learning no one was home (they were at church), walked around back to gain entry. Neighbors called the cops who ended-up tackling the scumbag as he went running down the street. I hope the SOB spends some serious time in a cell......and makes someone a nice girlfriend.

I just got back from dads where me & my sis replaced the broken glass and secured the house. We were there when dad came home from church to see things scattered just like a month ago.

What a bummer bud. This crap happens more than people imagine and no neighborhood is safe from it. Too bad someone wasn't there with a gun and smoked the turds. I woorry about my wife ( bed ridden quadriplegic ) when I have to leave the house but we have a 75 pound Lab with a bark the size of China to watch her plus next door neighbors who keep an eye out. One is six five and 300 pounds so he could scare scum bags away. Glad the folks are okay.

Yep, it was pretty obvious because of the process he'd used. Since yesterday I've learned the scumbag was on Probation......for burglary. Hopefully they'll realize he didn't learn much the 1st time.....
