Pocket Spill

Coinseeker 78

Joe and I went detecting at a local park today and both found some goodies. I found a pocket spill which contained a Standing Liberty quarter date unknown. A 1936 Buffalo nickle and a 1918 and 1934 wheatie penny. The coins also were quite shallow. About 2 to 3 inches. Included in the hole was a modern pull tab. Thanks for looking.

NICE! I love the SLQ's. It's by far one of my favorite coins. Date or no date, you got to love em. I would love to get one this season. Lord knows I am hitting the right places that have potential to produce one.

Another really cool thing about what you pulled off is that quite honestly, I might of passed it up depending on how it read and depending on if other finds were not in found so shallow there. Most places I hunt the first 4 - 5 inches are clad. Grant it I will bend down for a clad quarter and a possible silver ring hit that is shallow but that's about it. Just curious how did it sound when you passed over it before digging the plug? Were you able to pick up the multiple signals or did one over power the rest?

I was trying ferrous sounds and was picking up close signals in a small area but the quarter locked in so I thought I would dig a clad quarter. The quarter was half way off the right top corner of the smart find screen. the other coins were jumping around more than the quarter. So I dug it. The ground was very hard to dig and was in a heavy traffic area near a bench. I have found the Ferrous settings seem to separate the Iron form the coins more efficiently than when in the conductive mode. It is noisier than conductive mode but really separates the iron much better in my mind

Isn't that exciting! Ya pull a coin out and rescan the hole only to hear another, you wonder,"what is it this time". Fun.
