POLL: WOULD YOU BE INTERESTED IN A NEW DETECTOR FROM GEORGE PAYNE?

Welcome to the forum vlad! No, I don't need another detector and who is George Payne and what brand or brands of detectors does he sell?

God Bless!
Betty

If you're happy with your detector it's because of George Payne:). Almost every feature on todays VLF detectors were either invented by George or developed by modifying his designs. He designed and developed the first ground balance circuitry (both manual and auto ground balance), discrimination, ID meter, notch, blanker circuitry, tone ID and motion detectors that allow preset ground balance, plus he designed the first computerized detector and LCD meter. If not for the genius of George Payne we might still be using BFO's and TR's:).

Gerhard Fisher did build metal detectors, but he wasn't the first to do so and his were basically for hunting large objects. Alexander Graham Bell also designed and built a working detector in the late 1800's. George Payne didn't invent metal detectors, just most of the features found on modern detectors, including the ones I listed above.

Interesting info, JB (MS) and welcome to the CMD Forum! Hope you post often....nice to have a new member join us!

God Bless!

I read several forums every day but don't post that often on any of them except a small forum dedicated to the Discovery Treasure Baron detectors, which George Payne designed:). Tonight is the first time in a couple of weeks that I visited this forum and happened to notice George Payne mentioned, and that no one knew who he was. Thanks again for the welcome and take care.

Glad to have ya!
God bless!

hope we see more of ya!

God bless!

the treasure baron is this the model with 16 aa batteries and has to be hip mounted?sounds like the cousin to the teknetics mark 1 LTD same thing??

I guess the Treasure Barons could be called cousins to the Tek Mark I, but if so they can also be called the grandsons of the Tek ST:). There were several versions of the Barons made, one model uses two 9 volt batteries and the others 8 AA's Only when the DeepHunter module, which allows pumping up to 25 volts to the coil for more depth, was installed were 16 batteries required. All versions except the SST have the option to hipmount. The metal cased modular Barons were a little heavy but the only two currently in production are nonmodular models. The Millennium II, which weighs 3 pounds and the SST at 2.75 pounds.
