Poppin' a Barber Half at the wrong time!!!

People do it all the time. Somewhere in my junk I have the forms used by hunters to aleviate this problem.

That's a great find!

I always offer my Compadre (and a 60 second detecting lesson) as a backup if someone is kind enough to give me permission, if that person has always wanted to detect they may very well take me up on it.

If the person who gives me permission finds something obsolete (most likely a wheat penny) or any good find I high five them and show some serious excitement. I've never had anybody not allow me back.
