Dad will be taken down shortly for his first of eight spinal taps.
A.L.L. leukemia can get into the spinal fluid causing spinal meningitis so they inject about a teaspoon of chemo into the fluid.
After the spinal tap they will put in a Hickman port for his chemo treatments, fluids and blood work. He'll then have his I.V.s removed.
After each spinal tap dad will have to lie flat on his back for 4-6 hours.
The spinal tap was delayed because dad needed more platelets.
Mom said he is doing great after his third chemo treatment this morning.
Thanks for your thoughts and prayers!!

Howard got back to the room around 7:45 this evening and has to lay flat until 10:00. He has not eaten since this time last night so he is hungry. We are waiting for the nurse to come in and tell him that it is okay to get up. Everything went smooth, except we had hoped it would be done earlier in the day. Things never work the way we hope for.
We don't know what is in store for us tomorrow other than getting more chemo but now it can go through his Hickman cath and not an IV. Those needles can come out. Hurray!
Thanks again for all the prayers. We really appreciate them.
