Possible problem with my 2500?

On these very hot days the longer I hunt in the sun the more I keep getting overload signals. Is this normal or do I have a problem? I've tried lowering the sensetivity way down and changing freqencnies but it doesn't make a difference.

I don't put my detector in the car until I'm ready to leave. I wonder if the black cover up isn't lending itself to the problem.

Any thoughts?

I haven't heard of the heat causing the over load signal. Is there perhaps an underground line of some sort which could cause interference, hence the over load signal. Or maybe there is a lot of metal in the ground. Have you tried switching to a different location? Have you tried a different coil to rule out a bad coil? Have you tried holding down the on/off button to reset the machine?

Good luck! I hopes the area you are hunting which is causing you grief, otherwise, you may have to call the Garrett hospital for further GTI 2500 "FIRST AID"

It happened on 3 speperate occasions at 3 different sites, always with the big coil but only when it's really hot out. I hunted all 3 places in cooler temps with the same coil and had no problems.

My environmental coverup pulls too tightly on my coil cord and sometimes makes imaging not function. I took it off planning to modify it so that wouldn'y happen but haven't gotten around to it. That was a year ago. I just hunt without it now.

Are you sure there's no metal causing the overload? I assume you checked.

Chris, I made my own cover for that reason. Mine doesn't come anywhere near the plug in the back however I do have my cable wrapped around the shaft from top to bottom and it's not all loose and floppy but it's not wrapped tightly either.

Ultimately I think I'm going to wind up sending it to Texas.

We went to a couple of schools where we had alot of interferance, under ground utilities or radio tower? Once we left the area we had no problems!

I had the same problem with the 12.5 coil. It was a very hot day, and the GTI started to act weird, tone, signals, etc. i had to reset it and change the coil for the 9", When I got back home I tried it again in the park and it worked OK. Guess the combination of the soil, trash and heat just was too much for the 12.5. by the way, did you send your GTI back to Texas for a check up? was there a problem with it? or just an occasional problem due factor combination?.

Thanks

Paul

Chris

On my 1500 i just cut an X where the cable would pass
thru the cover. it wraps around the housing real nice and snug
The only porblem i have is that is certain sum ( angles etc) the screeen
is hard to read. I dont have that prob with the cover off
