Hello all, just wanted to put up a couple photos of some finds from a hunt that I went on with Low-boy (Low-Boy/LCPM) and Rybo. I was using my T2 LTD with the 11"DD & UniProbe pinpointer headphones (thanks Low-boy). Rained all day the first day :sad: but still managed to dig a few cool targets. Day two was dry but due to all the rain the previous day the ground was very noisy. The private property that we hunted with permission :thumbup: was a small Chinese town/encampment during the Gold Rush in California. Super trashy with nails, wire and iron of all sorts and sizes. By about noon of day two, I had already dug many iron and brass targets and four or five Chinese coins and was ready to mix it up a bit. I'm still learning the T2, so I ran the discrimination up to 55 and the sensitivity down to 30. All the coins that I had dug so far had only been about two to three inches deep so I figured maybe I'd try less power, and more discrimination to quiet things down for a while. After all, the finds up to that point had all been shallow and the trash noisy, The T2 was running dead quiet at this setting, not even a beep. Five minutes into trying these settings, in an area that we had all walked over a bunch of times with three different machines, I got a tiny, repeatable zip,zip. That was the 1876 Seated Liberty Dime! Within the next hour I dug the two 1906 Liberty Head Nickels almost back to back and a couple more of the Chinese coins. There is a lot that I have yet to learn about this machine, but the more I take it out and try new, (maybe unorthodox), settings, the more it teaches me. It was a great weekend and I'm looking forward to many more hunts with the T2.

Boy that is a lot of stuff (history) to find in one area who do you know that is so nice to you to share his hunting spots with you?
 
Finchdog it is a pleasure to see how much you have taken to this hobby. You have what it takes to find our rich history in the Gold Country you just have to slow down a bit so I can catch up! You me and T have to go out and hunt soon but all the rain that is heading out way may make the hard. All you need now is a small coil and a Uniprobe and you are in like flint. I hope to find some of the treasures you found at ChinaTown. I read that I think Rybo's CZ3D is blocking my detector....That must be why I had such a hard two days...Here is some info I found from. About a year ago a friend of mine asked if he could come metal detecting with me and of course I said yes, and set him up with my Musky and 8 inch coil. We went to a park here in Florida and after setting the Musky up and showing him the basics, I turned him loose and walked about 25 feet away and watched him search. He swung the coil like I taught him but he was swinging it way too slow for my taste, and I was getting ready to go over there when I heard his detector beep on some metal so I stopped and watched him swing back and forth on this target about 5 times. I asked him if he was ever going to dig it up and he said maybe and kept swinging over the target making it beep. At that point I shrugged and turned on my CZ-3D and started to hunt. I was at least 25 feet away from the Musky, and the minute the CZ was turned on the Musky stopped beeping on his target. I turned off the CZ and the Musky worked fine. I turned on the CZ and his target was gone again.I did not detect any interference with either detector, and the Cz worked ok but the Musky was useless. I'm guessing that since the CZ uses 5Kz and 15Kz frequencies, the CZ interfered with the 5Kz Musky.

JR...........To respond to your statement.........this is called: Silent Interference.........which is the worst kind of interference...... as you would NEVER KNOW YOU ARE OPERATING AT A REDUCED PERFORMANCE LEVEL! .... subsequently, would never look for problem-resolution. If you read the article: "PAID IN CACHE" on the home page of this forum...... I explain this phenomenon.
 
Low-Boy I have the small coil, it was part of the LTD package. I don't use it much because I don't seem to do as well. I'm sure its just me, not the coil's fault, but I'm just not "feeling" it. Your right, I need to work on getting a probe! Oh, and by the way, I cant believe your blaming your "a little less than average" day on Rybo's CZ! :nopity: Now you know what it feels like to human like the rest of us! Just kidding, I know there may be some science behind your story
