Power Supply Question

All the PI circuits around that boost the supply voltage seem to use a capacitor based charge pump, is there any reason not to use an inductor based voltage converter, such as EM noise from the inductor being picked up by the rest of the circuit ?

I've tried inductor based voltage converters, and as you say, noise is the main problem. It can be overcome, and one way is to synchronise the inverter with the TX. I do this anyway with the capacitor charge pump in the Aquastar.

Thanks Eric,
So far I've used a 555 timer as a charge pump because none of the local stores had the 7660 chip. They do have the inductor baser converters though which have the extras like inbuilt regulators etc. If I do try one later on I'll try soldering a shield over the inductor or something.
