I want to draw your attention to an amazing NiMH battery made by Panasonic.The drill that this beast powers is incredible,but I think this technology has much to offer PI detectors.

Batteries of that quality are being used already in PI detector design.
The batteries we currently use in our Aquastar II, and the Goldquest Aquasearch is of that quality.
