Prayer needed !!

Jim West Pa

Hey all,
In my struggle to become a better believer and follower of Jesus Christ i am lately learning that one of the more important things that i need to focus on is to be a good Christian husband, dad, grampappy and all 'round Christian leader in and to my family.
Could i please ask for prayer from all my brothers and sisters in Christ here for the strength and wisdom and more so, guidence from the Holy Spirit to be more focused on this goal and to put myself more into God's word each and EVERY day. I do not by any means come from a good Christian family background and by no means did i live one. This will and is gonna be a very difficult thing for me to stay focused on because i know the opposition i am going to encounter not only from friends who kow the "other" me but also from family,( not to meantion the useless red evil one). It will indeed require a lot of strength to do this and face them in that i am sure times will come when i am going to have to stand my ground for His sake only and have to accept the consequenses that i may very well drive loved ones away from me. If that is the case then so be it. I MUST be strong in the Lord and do in my life only what gives Him glory. I am praying that my convictions in this will not have the negative effect i expect from loved ones but will at least plant the seed to them also opening there hearts to accepting Jesus Christ as thier own personal Lord and Saviour.
I also need, (and this is my first very fearfull attempt at it), prayer for strength to bring myself before the elders of my church and confess a couple o' sins that am very ashamed of and very affriad to openly talk about. I know in my heart of hearts tho that is absolutley nessecary for me to do before i can grow any stronger in my relationship with my Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.
Please help me to get to my knees before God Allmighty and make these nessecary changes in my life.
Thank you God for being able to come before fellow brothers and sisters in Jesus Christ and make this humble request.

This is a beautiful letter from you , Jim; I admire your humility...something I need to work on

I will pray for you to be given the strength by Almighty God to accomplish all that you want to do.

I know He will help you..

Prayer is a powerful tool ; God's Love is even more powerful.... God Loves you very much...He will help you.

Jim - There is someone much more important than your family that you need to please and follow - the Lord of course. This may sound simplistic but till I realized that I was breaking my bonds & sinning against God mainly then I jumped ahead in being a Christian. Now if a sin appears I realize that the Lord is the one to please first of all in my decisions.

Also, if you have asked for forgiveness from God then you don't need to go before any man or group and tell anything. The Lord has forgiven you and has forgotten your sins - no need to bring them up to men again.

Just my thoughts, I surely will pray for your situation, steve in so az

We will be praying for you. You can read what god has done for me on our church's web site

His will is strong and he will guide and bless you

If you have a priestess a female as a leader you need to leave and find a church with a male leader. You can't be the husband of one wife if you're a female. The word used in the bible pastor is a male only word. The LORD has forgiven the believer of all their sins. He paid the price once for all, otherwise his sacrifice isn't sufficient.
Praying for you.

Make war on the floor brother! Get on your knees and pray to the Almighty and confess your sins to Him, Repent and do it no more! He will forgive you, and He will forget about it and not hold it against you. This a chance for you to grow closer to Him. I will be in your corner brother! Prayers begin now!

Just be open and honest with him . He loves you more them you love yourself. Jim i will stand with you in prayer in the battle field until Jesus brings you to a place when you say My Lord and king how may I serve you. Take care my friend Later Graw :yo:

I don't believe it's necessary to go before the Elders to confess. But if you do, I wouldn't go into detail.

Only God can forgive and forget our sins. As long as you've brought these issues to God, you don't need to get approval from men.

Not for nothing, but your prayer request is probably the same for every man on this forum. I'll pray for you.

I guess i may have made a mistake in my post. I was thinking of going to my church elders not to confess for the sake of forgiveness but for the sake of spiritual healing. I have read in James(?) that that is what we are supposed to do ? and i was thinking that because of these repeatable sins i have and so desperately want to rid myself of that i was on the right track in getting help for this ? Again, thank you all for your kindness, prayers and suggestions.

...I believe that you DO NOT have to confess anything to the elders-They are just mortal humans, just like you and I-subject to the SAME sinful temptations as the rest of us...HOW can they listen to the sins of others, and render judgement,to a fellow parishioner, when they are in the same boat as the rest of us??ONLY GOD is the one to confess to-HE knows what we do and say even before we do or say it,I believe that is why we are told to "confess our sins every day to the LORD,and we will be forgiven"...When I was a Jehovah's Witness about 100 years ago;they had a body of elders, and when somebody was either disciplined for whatever or dis-fellowshipped;or dis-associated themselves from the congregation;they would announce at one of their meetings IN FRONT OF EVERYONE the name of the one(s) that were dealt with...They did it to me;when I dis-associated myself from them-I left ,and never looked back.I know I will probably catch a lot of flack for my stand on this; but this is the place we can discuss doctrine and our associated views on this....I hate to say it;but by confessing something to another person can open the door to the "loose lips sinks ships"syndrome;and some people when told have AWFUL LONG memories.Who better to confess our sins to than the ONE who made us????

Paul said that the things i want to do, i do not. and the thing that i do not want to do, those i do. we all struggle with such things, even the apostle Paul. we every day have to put to death that sinful nature that is alive and well inside each and everyone of us. it starts with a conscience choice every day to live for Jesus and renewing our minds through the word of God. sometimes you have to let the tares and wheat grow together, because pulling the weeds out at that time will also kill the wheat. so it is in our lives. sometimes we don't see instant deliverance from the things that torment us, but rest assured God has it under control. if your heart is true and you are trying with all your heart then God will be faithful in your situation! do not put your faith in man, but god. there are times and season to everything, be patient your time and season is coming. GOD bless
