My mom got the news today from her Dr. She has Emphysema and he gave her 5 years or longer if she gives up the smoking.
Please pray that she will have the strength and will power to quit smoking.

Thanks.

Mike

praying now mike!

I will pray for strength to overcome smoking. I did that many years ago and can tell you it's hard to do but possible - - with the Lord's help, Steve in so az

how far are you from those fires?

Praying for God to help your Mom, Mike, to quit smoking and be healed to live free from unhealthiness for a long, long time in Jesus' name I pray! Amen! My brother, Cliff, quit smoking in either 1996 or 1997 and lived with Emphysema, COPD and Pulmonary Hypertension until he passed away in 2009 and that meant he lived for 12 or 13 years after he quit smoking cold turkey. He said why am I smoking these things and threw his pack of cigarettes away and never smoked again! Of course, not everyone can do this but he was stubborn and determined to do it and DID!!!! My pastor's brother smoked and she and her family prayed that God would make the cigarettes so bitter and tasting badly that he would quit and he did....couldn't stand the taste of them any longer! God has different ways in answering our prayers and He will when we pray in sincere faith and believe that He has answered even before we have seen the results! May God Bless your mother to endure and overcome her cigarette smoking habit and to live a much better healthier and longer life! Amen! Ma Betty

Praying, Mike. Nicotine is a horrible, horrible addiction. Hopefully your mom wants to quit....she can really slow down her disease process if she does.

My step dad died a few years back of the same thing!

Sorry to hear about your stepdad having the same diseases as my brother, for it is terrible to bear and to live with...I still miss him so very much, as he was company to me even if I had to try and take care of him and drive him to the drs and etc. while I was also ill with Emphysema and COPD and still am...which my dad and uncle (his brother) also died of....Uncle John was only in his 50's but served in the army during World War II and probably breathed all the air from the bombings and smoke from the fire burning everything in its path! They both smoked Camels and Lucky Strikes and Prince Albert tobacco in the can when rolling their own cigs! The Military durning World War II caused many young men to start smoking by giving them cigarettes with their rations and then most could not quit after getting addicted to all the drugs inserted into the tobacco which contains Nocotine...another habit-forming drug! I am sooooo glad that I never smoked and never desired to do so! May God Bless! Amen! Ma Betty
