Casey has had several bouts growing up with Juvenile Rhumatoid Arthritis - once so bad she was wheel chair bound and could not walk. This stuff affects all her joints. It had gone into remission twice now and it is back. Her ankles hurt as do many of her other joints. She is on her feet all the time at work - Burger King. She spent 4 hours waiting in a clinic waiting room today to be told they could not help her - she needs a specialist in that area. Her last rhumatoid doctor is way down towards Detroit. Sherry did some checking and found one closer. Casey does not grasp the tragic part of this. The disease could be permanent this time. She could be wheel chair bound the rest of her life. She cannot take steroids they gave her before because she is pregnant. She may lose her job because she cannot do it on her feet. She could lose her baby if she does not take this seriously. She cannot take the pain meds she was on before because of the baby. The disease also damages the retinas of the eyes...she could become blind is left untreated.
Dispite warnings from Mom - Casey is going into work anyway. Sherry tried to make Josh understand. I picked Casey up from Adult Ed today as she was in so much pain. She may have to stop going to school if she can't be there. They don't have internet access where they are so home schooling is not going to happen.
Some things you can never get kids to understand. Please pray she will make the right choices, the baby does not get this or loses its life over it, and Josh doesn't decide to walk away from it all later if he does get saddled with a wheel chair bound and/or blind wife.
