Prayers Please for son-in-law..

Pete in MI

New member
Casey's husband, Josh, has been working under our home to get the kitchen sink pipe to clear and be useable again. Last night as he was trying to flush some of the 'gunk' out of the line some of the stuff soaked the suit he was wearing for protection...turns out there is some acid that had been used in the pipe and the acid was burning through the clothing and onto his skin. He has chemical burns to his right arm, wrist, hand, shoulder and part of his back and also on his left wrist.

We got him to a medical place nearby after he showered some of the acid off. As Casey said, even the doctor was 'grossed out' looking at the burns. He cannot do anything for the next few days and needs bandages changed on a daily basis. We paid for his prescriotions out of our pockets leaving us short but he is more important.

We might have gotten off on the wrong foot with Casey wanting to move out and just live with him, but time has shown us he is a good kid...now a good son-in-law with acid burns and Sherry and I feel so badly for him. Some of the other stuff in the kitchen sink line was a live bacterial enzyme or 'bugs' that are supposed to eat away at the gunk in the pipe...we fear it might also attack Josh's skin and even go deeper than that.

He needs our prayers. Our homeowners insurance will probably pay most of his bills but it isn't the financial stuff that concerns us at the moment. Please pray.

Praying for Jesus' healing virtue to move upon Josh and quickly heal him and sooth his pain, also peace and comfort for all of you in this sad trying time! May God hear our prayers and do a mighty miracle for him and each of you! Amen!

but I still have a toxic waste area under our house that we don't want anyone entering...and we still have no working kitchen sink

Sherry read we can neutalize the acid with a mixture of lime and water...but when putting it on the acid one has to wear breathing aparatus one finds in fire departments...breather unit with oxygen tank. Maybe I should check eBay for one

I'm glad the ins co will cover the medical bills! Pete, rather than you and Sherry trying to take care of the acid spill under your home &/or in your sink, I think you should call those who handle contamination from acid spills and asbestos which hopefully your homeowner's ins will cover also! At least, you should try and see what they say and the ones who handle those problems! Too dangerous to work with......you and Sherry might end up with burnt and scarred lungs......sooooooo be careful in what you do trying to fix the stopped sink problems.....even a plumber, but warn him about the acid danger! Will be praying all works out for you, Sherry and healing for Josh! May he and Casey draw closer to Jesus in their trial!

Just for future reference, be sure to keep a box of Baking Soda handy and in the event of any kind of acid spill or comntact, sprinkle it liberally on the acid, skin, etc. This is also great for dealing with car battery acid. It neutralizes the acid and minimizes the damage. I pray he is doing b etter and healing quickly.

God Bless,
Mike

Good advice pmike and welcome to the forum, if you are a new poster! Hope you join our family by posting often! Baking soda is a good item to keep around for a lot of different uses, so thank you for the reminder! :)

God Bless!
