With the snow flying, I've been researching places to swing a coil. I've found 14 places to go (so far) and the best part is these places are not the usual parks, schools, etc. I've found old railroad stations, a closed down high school in a town that's all but deserted and other places that are "non-public". I got tired of fishing for clad last year and now it was time I got serious about metal detecting. Also found a swimming hole that's of the beaten path and an old fairground site. So when mother nature gets over her cold weather, I'll start hitting these sites. I also rigged a wireless headset to my GTI 1500 to give me more freedom digging. Its just a cheap setup from Walmart and I attached the control head to the detector. .Anyway....I'm ready

Like I said, it's a cheap setup I got for Christmas from Walmart. It comes with a small control box and headphones. I just taped the control box below the my detector's control box and connected the wire to the headphone jack. The control box takes a 9 volt battery and the HP 2 AA. I believe it cost about 20-30 bucks. It's manufactured by "Sentry"

From the land of the Bluenose.....good idea. Still feel thatthe best research is talking to the old bouys in town. Did lots of research one winter and had some great leds.....all under concrete or developed........sucks!

I posted about that sentry setup a week or so ago, I think, dont remember which forum...
I did the same thing for my DFX and got a spare to use on my GTI 2500 after I tried it out and liked it. It might be a cheap wireless in price, but heck, seems to be fair quality especially for the price. I used velcro tape though, just put it on the side of my control box on the DFX and on the back of the wireless transmitter and that way can take it off when I want or use it on another detector. The spare set of the headphones setup I got so I wouldnt have to worry about transfering them from case to case. But one thing I am thinking about trying and havent yet is seeing if they would work with my Infinium. Not sure how I would attach the wireless transmitter box. I dont want to put the velcro on the LS. So dont know just yet if it would be worth the trouble with it.
But I will say this, its an inexpensive solution for those that want to go to wireless earphones. You have to get them from the Walmart website...they dont have them in alot of their stores.

No splicing or anything required, comes with the size adapter for plugging into a detector. And I believe the cost is 24.95 online and you cant beat it if you want to go to a wireless headphone setup. Worth every penny and then some. And I enjoyed every second of hunting without the annoyance of the headphone cable. It was GREAT!!!!

You can stil get them from wally world but you have to go to walmart.com, their online site to get them. Of course, they are likely carried by other stores too, but at what price.

I'm with you doing some research for spring. I went out yesterday for a short time ( here in Massachusetts) but couldn't chip through the frozen sand at the beach. Just wanted to get out! I found a spot where a town in Connecticut dumps their snow they remove from streets and parking lots. It is dumped out of town in the country, and I plan on hunting this location after the snow is melted to see what may have been lost over the winter. Spring can't come soon enough!

You know it. I went out today for a little while but the dang ground is just too frozen in most spots. It was like chipping at concrete. All I did was get some practice swinging. But what the heck. I was outside doing something I enjoy. Thats the main thing. Other than actually finding something, there isnt much more you can ask for. I got some signals that signified silver but going to have to wait till spring to dig. But thats okay. It will still be there.
