Problem with 2500 power on/off or Something ? Help

Anyone that has an idea please let me know....
I shut off the machine (works great) but next time I turn it on it says "Power Off" and I never have the Treasure Talk on. Then turn it on again and all presets are messed up.(Volume is Maxed, changes to All Metal Mode, Thres. is all the way down, Treasure Talk is on, Surface Elim. is at 4 inches, Cannot change a out of All metal mode or Surface Elim. etc.... Does not do it every time but happens a lot. I make sure the darn buttons are not stuck down and have changed batteries a few times but nothing. The only way to fix it is to reset the machine and start over but that is getting real old fast. Info .please would help a million if someone else has had this problem before.... Thanks, Todd

Sounds like you may have a software glitch. You might be better off talking to Garrett about it. Great people to deal with.Try Melinda.Harper@garrett.com or give them a call at
(972)494-6151. You did try holding down the power button for three to five seconds to reset the computer ? Is that the way you reset the detector or do you just take the batteries out of it ?

I hold the on/off button down to reset. My best guess is something internal. Guess I will try her by phone thanks.... Todd

Did you try resetting it by pushing and holding the on/off button for 10-15 seconds? That will put it into factory default mode, and you can then start making your personal changes.

HI: I have had the same problem and had to reset all the settings. It seems to happen when the detector has been sitting for several days without use. I would expect something in the memory. Please let me know if you find out anything interesting from Garrett. Also, thanks to those who recommended a specific name at Garrett. I did call but the guy I talked to wasn't helpful at all.

I'm having the same problem.Then my 2500 started a new trick ,gets stuck on 4.5 notch.Bounces from nickle to pull tab,Quarters don't even read.Sent it back to Garrett today.Tech support said they would check it out. Replace a bored if need be.Still like my 2500 these things happen.I have a1500 so I'm not dead in the water.

I got a hold of melinda and more or less they realize that there is a glitch (hardware or software) and want the unit sent in. So looks like its another trip back to Texas for the Big Dog. Thanks for the info. and ideas!!!!! Todd

My second GTI 2500 did the same thing except it would repeat words over and over at high speed then shut down, or if I turned it on and use it for 15 to 20 minutes it would shut down, now garret is sending me a third GTI
I am not impressed with garret or there crappy metal detectors, my next unit will be a fisher then a whites I will never buy a Garret prooduct again, total junk and a real waste of money!!!!!!!
