got a new to me Vaquero took the cleansweep coil off my Cibola and put it on the Vaquero and it just went bonkers hissing and popping, thought it might be the new machine so put the stock coil on the Vaquero balanced up no worries, put the cleansweep back on the Cibola and worked as it always has.

so made sure connections was good on the Vaquero with the cleansweep coil it was fine.

so I am a bit perplexed to why this is happening and if there is a solution I can't think of one as it hisses and pops not even near the ground in an open field where all my other machines work fine including the Cibola and cleansweep.

read somewhere on here someone else had a similar problem with the outlaw, so do the cleansweeps only work on fixed balance machines ?

any feedback would be much appreciated !!

I'm going to guess that it can't be the detector or the coil. Maybe the ground balance is too negative or the sensitivity needs lowering. Maybe the cable connecter is not fitting as well on the Vaquero as it is on the Cibola. Just for the heck of it swap batteries. If all else fails, call Tesoro and speak with Rusty Henry.

thanks for trouble shooting with me, backed everything right off like 1 sense etc still hissed and popped, reseated the cable connection 4 or 5 times seemed ok to me, will try another battery and see but it just doesn't feel right you know when you get that feeling.

didn't Tesoro stop making the CSC because of some sort of issue all my research could only find an issue as why they stopped making them sort of a broad term, so anyway was wondering if anyone else has had a similar experience?

nice clean looking machine like a 9/10 stock seems to work put a NEL coil on it was a bit hard to balance but working fine no popping and hissing.

maybe it needs a tune up who knows??

just strange that it is only the CSC giving the problem.

thanks again for the help!

it reminds me of when my whites DF coil died it just started hissing and popping this is the same sort of noises maybe the coil is on the way out and cant handle the Vaquero's extra power and not having owned one before it does feel more powerful than the Cibola and seems like a great detector just bit disappointed I cant run the CSC.

sounds like a badd cable

guess I will just use it on the C till it dies and chuck it in the bin, they wont fix it will they? they don't even make them any more !!

guess its over to 5 pins ville for a cleansweep coil.

Depends on what the problem is...if its something simple like a bad cable I'm sure they would fix it.. THey fixed my cs coils at teast 2x...my biggest problem is heat. It gets hot here and the windings can shift if the epxoy gets hot enough to shift......
but hey not a whole lot I can do about the heat except keep my coil wrapped in a blanket when not in use in the car.

if your vehicle has a trunk the detector should be protected from the heat. I've been keeping mine in the trunk for over 40 years and never have a problem.
