Proof is in the pudding...

Over the years hunted this small yard once a year with about 1/2 doz. detectors...Today with an Explorer XS pulled a 1914 Barber dime and sterling religious medal right from the center where a lot of my coils have swung...Indeed the Explorer is a silver magnet...Arm and back feel fine as I experimented with rod lengths and adjusted the arm rest just right...always said it had the best guts around...hope I can learn to handle the cosmetics...

Hey Dan......I have found the same to be true....the Explorer just GOES DEEPER, and is able to see better with the many headlights! I love mine, and recommend it to everyone. Nice find!

I have went back to several place's I have hunted before and pulled Coin's like it was hardly ever detected. Alot of them did have Nail's in the hole tho and Also Nail's sticking out the side's. Its the DEEP One, No Doubt about that.

Hello Dan, or anyone else...
Just want to know more on how you feel about the Explorer, I am here in Japan and don't get to try different detectors so much... Have be detecting for over 20 years going back to the old push button re-tunes and have used Garrett most of the time with good results. Got a fisher 3D last year and just started to use it an it does fine! Was thinking of getting a new detector in the fall. Like to stick with the Garrett and maybe get a GTI, but if the explorer is far more superior, then I may have to get me one.
Thanks for any info! I find a lot of bronze coins here and always look for something that can deal with that type of metal that reads around the nickle to foil area! Do you think this would be a great advantage for me at some of my old sites to go over and new?
Thanks Dave

Hello Dave.....gotta tell you that since I started using the Explorer II, I have pulled so much more out of the same old sites that went silent years ago for me. I have used just about every major brand of detector on the market over the past 25 or so years, and have never had one that performs even close to the EXP II. The FBS Technology is as good as it gets, and will stay that way for a long time. Pricier than most....yes, but there is just no comparison. Deeper, more accurate discrimination, and wonderfully crafted, this machine is #1 in my book.

Thanks Chuck,
Would you say that it is pretty tough too? and is the touch pad easy to work...looks small to me! I wear gloves because of the harsh digging! I just wanted to buy American, but have to go with the best! Thanks for all the help.. Price is not a big deal anymore, Like you I am at that part in my life where I can splurge a little, Like you I go back to the push button re-tunes. And I have seen a BFO in action too..HAHA
Thanks Again for any more info!
Dave

The Explorer can almost make some areas look like they haven't been detected... :) But, there are certain instances I still love to grab my CZ-3D.

So Bill or anyone,, would you say that the Explorer wins hands down over the 3D? How is the explorer on nickels and gold? Bronze coins fall into the foil to nickle range..I need good depth in those ranges!....Thanks

A great tip I picked up on from this forum. I forget the post. His idea was to buy the little rubber pads that stick to the bottom of items you place on a shelf. I purchased the clear rubber ones about 1/4 inch in diameter almost a 1/4 inch tall. I stuck them right over the top of the panel on the EX11 where ever their is a button. Very easy to operate with gloves on. And if your glove is dirty it never touches the screen. Makes them very easy to push. SO far none have fallen off yet. Who ever it was that was a great Idea..

Well.....it's very well built, but I don't know that I would want it cascading down that tunnel you seem to be crawling out of in the pic. I tink I would follow the tip you received about the clear, rubber, stick ons, as far as the glove/button issue is concerned. Hope there was something worthwhile back in that cave?
