Although Prospecting is a type of "all metal" mode, it would appear to require less signal filtering due to the lack of notch assignment or TID. Less filtering should equate into more raw depth. But that is just an observation on my part. I will add that one of the Minelab employees mentions in an article posted in the FAQFAQ section that the Prospecting mode is of a different design than the Coin/Treasure mode. I would speculate that the reason "why" could only be addressed by the engineers who designed it. And I doubt they'd be willing to share that information. HH Randy
