Pulltabs and Pop tops. What are pop tops.

I think that pulltabs are the things with the round ring and tail & pop tops are the things that break off a soda can if you keep wiggleing them. Steve.

I would think that a pop top would be the old metal lids like the twist offs you see, not for sure though.

Any ways their a pain in the butter..

What gets me is the pop tops were invented to rid the planet of people carelessly tossing their tabs on the ground. Then someone in the schools and elsewhere started the habit of completely tearing them off supposedly for sanitary reasons. Their original purpose-gone. Now, 3/4ths of them register as nickel and some as tabs. With gold rings registering as tabs, pencil erasers as nickels, keys and tokens as square tabs, small rings as foil-what's the use of an ID?:ranting:

Yeah pop tops are pulltabs that are supposed to remain fastened to the can after opening. The old style bottle caps are a real pain.

A while back, someone was making a belt or something out of them, from their finds, they post a few photos

Here is the official patent on a pop top.

Oh that right, and the date of the patent is 1989, seems like we had them a lot longer than that, because seems like the pull tab disappeared
in the late 70's,
Bob

The 1989 patent was a modification to an older patent.
