Pulse 8X - JW Fishers?

I want to buy a PI machine for the beach and have heard great things about this machine? Are any of you familiar with it and what are your thoughts? The manufacturer's price is $1,595 but A&S Company in Santa Clara sells it for $1,195 plus free shipping. I have also considered White's Surf PI Pro, which is only $699.95. Does anyone think that there is a major difference in the technology and performance of these machines?

Hi Tom,
If you buy the Pulse 8X for beach and shallow water hunting, you will be very disappointed. It is designed as a diving detector where the sensitivity has to be limited to enable it to work in deep water, say 50ft or more. The electronics in a beach and shallow water detector is set quite differently, to enable it to detect small gold rings and jewellery. The Surfmaster PI Pro is much better for the latter type of detecting and will save you a fistful of $. There are other options of course and a visit to the Surfscanner website is worth doing.
Eric.
