PULSE DETECTOR DEPTH

ive seen a video showing a tdi pro detecting a nickle at 18" would that be a loud signal or a whisper or slight change on threshold or strong signal ???
 
More like a phantom signal.

I have tested a US nickle with a GPX5000, Deepstar and some other high powered PI detectors.....maximum is 15" and this is a very soft signal.
This is also on pristine white sand beaches with no EMI for 50 miles.

I refuse to believe 18" unless I saw it for myself. Most of the time the "coin signal" is falsing......listen for all of the other "coin signals" adjacent to where the coin has been buried. More often than not, the operator will not sweep around the area to gauge falsing or EMI but will sweep a very tight spot to where the coin is buried.......anyone can get a "signal".

Tony,I agree with you, in the belief that whatever the video was supposedly showing, it was not a nickle causing the response....matt
 
decent signal--its a beast. problem with this machine is stabilizing it at the higher settings that give that kind of performance.

A few years back, I challenged someone making these 18" claims to find some targets for me.

I marked out an area of 10m x 10m on a pristine section of beach (even well away from the wet sand so that the pulse delay could be dropped down) and informed him that I had buried 5 targets at 18" depth. Unbeknown to him, I had only buried one target at 15".

Well now, you have never seen so many holes dug looking for all of those "definite" targets.......looked like a minefield afterwards.

Total targets dug = 0
Total holes filled = 17 :rolleyes:

what type of targets do you use
I test in this moment the last prototype Fisher / manta

I have never had a more stable PI
at 7us I can lower the SAT to less than 10% on wet sand
the more compact it is, the smoother the signal

18 inches = 45 cm // is possible, everything depends on the target and the metal
with the old version, I had obtained big rings 18k 15/20 gr
at about 40cm = 15.5 inches

we would need one or more targets
that everyone can find, anywhere in the world
low conductor, of course
someone has an idea for the target
 
The US 5 cent piece "nickel" is a pretty good standard. Rings are hopeless - no two are alike.

are composed of 75% copper and 25% nickel

performance is really optimized, on low conductors

one finds less jewels and silver coins (observation)
but more gold ..... :)

I have already obtained pure nickel
has more than 15 inches ....)
 
Test target used was a US nickel.....

Big gold rings (as described above), then 15"-16" is definitely attainable.

US nickels have always been 75% copper. Canadian nickels were once 100% nickel.
 
I might add one small bit of information:
The majority of gold rings manufactured are for women.
Most of the women's gold rings are thin.
The higher the gold content the lower it will read.
The majority of lost rings will register at and below a nickel.
On the other hand the honker class rings read high.
For me, I've found 1 class ring per 33 women's rings found.
That is 97% of the rings I've found are thin, women's rings.
I never pass up a nickel signal, never..........

This is also my opinion
the 7 us calibration of the Fischer prototype
makes it possible to obtain many more fine rings
rings that are not seen by other machines

the depth is subjective, depends on the compact sand or not
and salinity, but anyway it is very deep :)

18k only on the photo, the most common carat in France
the 14k and under will be easier to take ....
 
7uS is not really practical on any part of the beach....even the "dry sand" will have some dampness several inches down and a moaning/groaning threshold will be present.

on the airy, waterlogged sand, a little noisier
just lower the sensitivity or swept slowly

on the compact even wet I'm really 7us

it's the PI, the most stable and especially the quietest I've ever seen ...

--and in reality, the proto works at 6.5us
7 will probably be retained for the series
 
the proto are not waterproof
the coil alone, under water is very stable

I think the 7us will be exploitable underwater
by lowering the sensitivity
lowered the power and keep a delay at the lowest
will always give a better sensitivity on gold

you really have to see it to believe it
