quattro and 15 inch coil

Hello all. Received my 15 inch coiltek coil so I had to see how it worked on the Quattro compared to the sovereign. Thumbs up. I quickly built a light with a led facing down on the coil area and two facing on the screen. Mounted the light on the shaft below the box and worked well. I was happy with the way the coil and the light worked. The best find of the night was a ladies citizen watch with gold in set between the links on the out side. The shops were selling a simular item for between $350.00 to $400.00.it was in good working condition and showing the right time. The coin value for the night was fifty nine dollars and 45 cents. This helped for some fuel and food. The price at the moment is around $1.35.a litre and will probably go up again. Any one think of getting an 15 inch coil I can highly recommend them and they are the same weight as the stock 10 inch coil and easy to pin point. I also found four kids toys a good condition. thats another day for me and I see some of you are doing well so keep up the good work. We are only a small forum but by comparison are doing very well. All the best Stan. Australia.

59 Dollars seems like a good take... I have a :coiltec: 15inch coil and find it works well. Most of the time pinpointing is easy and no different than the stock coil. But then there are those occasional surface targets that are hard to find. I feel a little self conscious with it in parks - but that doesn't stop me.

hi guys been following what you been saying but how the hell can you say pinpointing with 15" coil is easy love to whatch you guys in action, detecting thats is. thanks mick england

Hello Mick. I bought a sovereign XS since they first came and fitted the 15 inch wot coiltek coil when they came out and hardly had it off. I use it on the beach and land. After a while pin pointing became 2nd nature. I do the Chris cross pattern to where I had the loudest noise and turned around another quarter of a turn and went through the same pattern again to make sure I was on the rite spot the first time. By all rights the centre should be in the middle of the coil. If I am cherry picking the $2 & $1 coins that are just below the surface I turn down the sensitive a fair bit. I prod the ground and locate the coin with a thin screw driver and prise out the coin with another just behind the coin .the second screw driver is a little thicker and I heat the end up and flatten it out to about the with of a tea spoon and out pops the coin. You can cover a big area and pick up a reasonable amount. Once you learn to pinpoint deeper it is no different except that you have to cut a plug. I hope I have been of some help. Stan Australia.

Hello Stan nice to see you're doing so well with the Quattro. I was wondering, what is the depth difference b/t the standard coil and your 15 inch, if any? And what is the deepest target you detected so far to date with the Quattro on the beach? I also found a similar earring like the wind catcher looking one you have there. They seem to be a fairly common find on our beaches.

All DD Coils make a BLADE. The bigger the coil the bigger the blade.

If you were looking top down, the only part of a DD Coil detecting anything is dead center.

So the center is where the signal AND the ONLY place an object could be under. Ahhh, here comes the wiggle....once your over something, you just wiggle and draw the coil back to you (that keeps the object under the center) until it drops out....VIOLA! It's at the TIP of your coil.

The process is the same no matter the DD Coil size....maybe just takes a little longer with an 18" than a 5" :)

Hello Angela. The sov XS came out with the coinsearch range of coils, 11 inch and 8 inch. I used to use the 11 inch on the beach and parks and I reckon I used to get about8 inches on a silver threepence and about10

Hello Mick. I would give any thing to be able to detect in your country as it has such a long and varied history. The old hammered coins would be terrific or any thing from way back. I see that some run a detector tour, they put you up for what ever time and run it as a bed and food style set up and take you to different farms that they have rights to and you keep what you find. I would like to do some thing like that one day when my kids are finished schooling at university. Stan Australia.
