Quattro desert help!!!

I have had my Quattro for 9 years and still don't feel like I know the machine. I have used her back east with so so results, but in the Az desert I am having major difficulty. Can someone relate to this and offer some tips/setting requirments?

We need some specifics like where and what are you detecting for? Ghost town hunting? Mining camp hunting? silver/gold coins, relics? Although I only live a short distance from the Mojave desert, I haven't as yet done any detecting out there. I think it would take a lot of preparation and an off road vehicle with sufficient supplies etc;. Satellite phone in case you loose reception......too much work for me! Please keep us posted on your progress.

Just coin detecting in parks and some ghost towns. My work used to have an school/post office and bar on its premisses.

I just bought a quattro looking forward to trying it out.
