Quattro Reports.

We will be field testing the Quattro at the GNRS next week. Will post upon returning after the 9th. Good hunting,

I have a considerable amount of time (200+ hours) on the unit and have used it in a number of different conditions since receiving the 1st prototype in April.
Rather than posting pages of test results, if you have a specific question or a specific type of hunting you want feedback on, let me know and I will see if I can provide some information.
Feel free to drop me an E-mail if you have a pointed question or request.

Hi Andy,
Iam thinking of buying a Quattro as a back for my Explorer MKII.
I have used explorers fron the time they came on the market in the UK and I swear by them.
If the quattro proved better than the MKII would become the spare detector.
Oh yes will the existing Suray X1 probe fit the Quattro.
Regards,
Jerry.

If you like the Explorer II, you should like the Quattro. The performance is close to that of the Explorer and even though it does not have all the adjustments of the Explorer, most Explorer users tend to set most of the controls and forget them.
It does have the two tones (ferrous & conductivity), digital ID, the new Trash Density circuit and FBS.
The X-1 probe does work on the Quattro (probably need a different upper shaft if you want it to match the blue color . . . I've had a few people complain about the color not matching their current Explorer shaft . . . . . guess problems are in the eye of each user!)
Hope this helps . . . .

I have used the Quattro on several beaches along the Carolinas which have a great deal of black sand in addition to the salt to fight with. The QUattro worked as well as the Explorer in that you could walk from the dry sand to the wet sand and into the surf line without any falsing or chatter. Targets - even with the stock coil - were in the 12"+ range.
The WOT coil worked like a champ even with the sensitivity in MANUAL pushed to the "17" mark.
Let me know if this answers your questions . . . .

That's exactly what Minelab wanted to accomplish . . . . . give users an FBS detector with less "intimidation" that some perceived the Explorer possesed.
