quattro

mark, yes i have andys book also & i also think its a great book (think i mentioned that) i also think the quattro is a great detector ( think i mentioned that) actually i believe without andys book it wouldnt be a great detector (i should say we wouldnt know it was a great detector) the fact that someone had to write a book on using the quattro doesnt say too much for minelab as far as I'm concerned.

now i will get linched for saying something against minelab lol . before u get started on me again, i've had 4 detectors still have 2 and they all have been minelabs......... now grab the ropes & lets have a good old fashion linching, cant have these damned people expressing their thoughts ( could be dangerous )

love u all,, really. now go dig up sumethin !!

diggitdawg.......

LOL, I'm not into lynchin'

I think we were all expressing our opinions. That is what makes this a great forum.

All things being equal I would much rather hang out with other mders, even if we don't always agree. Heck, my wife and I don't always agree, and she married me!

Have a great day diggitdawg!

The Quattro is an awsome machine worth every penny .Best dam machine ive ever owned .Just need to go slow and learn it well. Few machines have the simplicity and complexity combined like the quattro. Great design and menu setup as well as depth .

The excal is fantastic and our primary machines. But when one is down, we break out the Quattro and it always does well. I hate the fact that I cant pinpoint with it like the excal, but its also picked up signals that the excal couldn't. Plus the multi-tones make distinguishing targets a breeze.

Point being..... The grass is always greener on the other side.

And if we all agreed every time then there would be just one Detector company and one Detector Model

Diggitdawg I can understand where you are coming from.
Perhaps it would help to look at things from another viewpoint.

You bought the Quatro knowing it was less expensive that the Explorer series.
You might have even known the performance was less than the Explorer also.
You were happy with the way it worked.
It seems that you are now upset that it has lost some resale value.
I can understand that.
But the detector still works as good as it did the day you got it ... it has not given up on you so why give up on it?
If you want a new machine ... buy one ... you work hard for your money and you deserve it.
Keep The Quatro as a back up or a lender to friends that want to go hunting with you.
Keep it for a beach machine ... point is ... keep it!

Back when the Quatro first came out I bought a new one and was very disappointed it did not perform like an Explorer XS.
I made the choice to save some money and then regretted it. It was MY mistake ... not Minelabs.
Look at what you can buy a good Explorer XS for now ... They still are as good as they ever were and I am not convinced the new SE is really any better.

This may all be moot as new Minelab service policy's will obsolete their detectors at the end of ten years.
How many years does your Quatro have left on it before it can not be repaired?
Who wants to buy a detector that cant be repaired unless they can get it at a disposable price?

I just bought a new E-Track and dont care what it will sell for in a month or two ... I bought it to use.
Same with my new White's V3 and the new Excalibur II I used this morning water hunting.
How much money did I lose in just a few weeks? ... I dont really care cause they all will pay me back each time I use them not just in pleasure but in cold hard cash as well. They are mine now and I plan on using them until they stop working.
(then get them repaired ... if I can)

Keep your Quatro ... use it ... invite a friend to go hunting with you and let them use it ... it is a quality machine that should last for many years.
You have not really lost a dime!

Relax ... enjoy life ... its is not a permanent condition ... no one escapes it alive!
