Question about internal batteries on a metal detector.

Hi everyone, just curious how long do internal batteries last on a metal detector that is used very frequently. What happens if the batteries stop taking a charge and how would you replace them if you could or how much would it cost to have the manufacture do it?
Would appreciate some feedback.

So many variables out there SSS but here are a few of my experiences. My friend is still swinging his CTX 10 plus yrs original rechargeable battery easily did 8hr hunts day after day in March. My Equinox detectors do full hunts with 5 plus year old batteries. My Manticore a 22' model started having issues after about hour 7, purchased a new battery which I installed myself in minutes with only a metric Allen wrench. With the price of disposable batteries and the hours I put on my machines I am way better off with rechargeable internal batteries.
I remember all the wailing and whining about batteries when the Equinox came out, completely unfounded B.S.

Did Minelab void the remaining warranty when you replaced your battery or were already off it by then? That was a big deal when the 600 came out , do it yourself and the warranty is kaput. I have been running my Legend for several years on the internal and it always gets me through my short hunt sessions but I have never been impressed with its longevity even when new. Fortunately , they have the cool external set up for a back up that will go for days.
