Question about mode.

Hello all, when selecting a pattern to hunt coins...Andy S. pattern....does it matter what mode I select? I am still kind of confused on this subject.

Thank you

The mode setting controls everything else like deep on and number of tones and all other settings. The pattern just controls your amount of discrimination. You can start out in any mode and incorporate the Andy S. pattern. So then you will always have the same amount of discrimination if you were to do so. But other settings in the backround would be different. You might have smooth tones for example.

Use a pattern with as little black on it as possible on your hunt. Only increase discrimination if you are being hounded by junk. Many veteran E trac operators run a wide open pattern (no black or discrimination at all). You need to train the brain to put up with more junk tones, but your finds will increase.

The patterns saved on your E trac are there so you can make quick adjustments in the field. Rather than blocking out one square at a time. I need more discrimination bamm busy park pattern. I can use less discrimination bamm relic pattern.
