QUESTION ABOUT SOVEREIGN COILS WHICH ONE

I have the Ultimate 13, Sunray S-12 and the SEF 10X12. I have not put either of the other coils on my GT since I got the SEF. Both of those bigger coils are real good coils but I like the SEF. I used the S-12 on the beach for a while. Dug some deep targets. Same Story with the Ultimate 13. The Sef 10X12 is very deep and gives sufficient coverage. There have been a lot of posts made about the SEF and 99% of them have been positive.
Since I got an Excal for the beach and water I have just used the GT on dry land. I sometimes put on a small coil on the GT for real trashy areas.

Ive used the S12 but never the ultimate so I can only say the S12 is a good one.
If you are new to the Sovereign detectors neither one is a good one to learn your Elite with and where a small 8 inch coil would be the best to use as it will make the learning it so much easier. Now if you know how the Sovereigns work and have some experience with it than the bigger coils work good and I have used the S-12 and love this coil, but never used the Ultimate myself and being it sounds like you have both I would do as Neil says and use both and decide for yourself which does better for you and your ground conditions.

I have the ultimate... lot of coverage and as light as the standard 10". I beach hunt and most places dont have much minerals or trash here in Fl. Ive always found i can ask others, but like detectors.... you have to use them yourself in your area with your style of hunting. It wont take long before you will prefer one over the other.

Used the 13ULT on the Excalibur, only good for the wetsand, no saltwater at all. Tried it in the bay water, brackish, no good. 13 ULT is super sensitive to the surround conditions and only good for the wetsand or dry. .
