question about the E-Trac exchange program

I dont have an E-Trac, but have a few questions. I find the exchange program to be very interesting. I figured that here on this forum their would be tons of posts to exchange programs. Is the Minelab official website or somewhere else the place to go to exchange programs? I also heard a rumor that you have to pay $$ to use the exchange program. Thanks in advance for an answer

Thanks

Jason

There's no charge. I've picked up a few programs on this forum. I think there are some on the Minelab website, as well. Once I got a few I'm happy with, I haven't messed around with it. Seemed like a super idea, at first, but don't pay much attention to it now. Maybe that's just me, but since there isn't a lot of talk about it on the forum anymore, I'm guessing I'm not the only one.

What I see as Exchange's advantage is when you have your machine set and it is really working for you, you can save the settings and download them to your computer to back them up. If "anything" ever happened to your machine, broken, stolen, you name it your settings can always be downloaded right back on after being fixed or "God forbid" you have to buy a new Etrac. I had favorite programs on my old "very light color" xlt that I had to make a paper chart of all the settings, which were many, and input them all one at a time. What a pain! The Exchange program is a huge time saver! Mike

you say "I also heard a rumor that you have to pay $$ to use the exchange program" That would be a first.

If you pay one cent , it should only be in the form of a donation of only..............1 cent. Even then that's too much.

Paying anything to anyone directly for the patterns , is like paying for some one else to go out and have all the fun for you......

Either use NO PATTERNS in ALL METAL or try the on board presets, with a few adjustments to suit. These patterns would also need to suit your hunting style and site.

I don't think it's rocket science and if you follow the basic rules outlined the Etrac manual, Andy Sabisch's book and patterns you'll find by searching this forum, You'll get the full benefits of what the Etrac can do.
