Question About The Teknetics Mark 1

Is there a specific charger for this detector, or can any type be used. Do all the batteries get equal charge by leaving them in, or should they be taken out and charged.
 
It had a charger and the batteries were left in! Had one in the late 80's.
 
...its for nicads, and does not have a trickle charge mode.
