question about using a 4 inch coil on the land star and the tracker iv

i tested both machines using montes nailboard test and i ran other iron test and it seems that the low end tracker iv does better the land star seems to not handle the test as well does anybody know the reason thanks hal

The TK4 is an all-analog continuous-time machine without any kind of signal sampling that could introduce delay. The LS samples signals for computer analysis to do target ID, and this introduces delay.

The TK4 has been a good seller for many years. It's the one product that the boss never allowed me to redesign because he says, "first, show me an unhappy customer". If you ask about "depth", it ain't got much. If you ask about "ugly", it's got lots of that. The meter is basically a hood ornament that also serves as a go no-go battery test. But it's a very easy machine to learn to use properly, and within its depth limitations it does an excellent job. For doing public parks etc. where digging beyond 6 inches is something you should NOT be doing, and which are typically full of trash placing a premium on unmasking capability, it's almost impossible to beat the lowly TK4.

+2, Dave. However, I DID whack up the sensitivity and found 5 Sasquatch (sp?) dollars, one at 8" at a local park. I had missed them on previous trips. BTW, am liking the new Lone Star Pro. Took some getting used to, but surprised me. I only got it to replace my stolen Tracker for a tryout. Now I gotta get my 7th Tracker!
