Question about X70 pinpointing

When I am pin-pointing a target that comes in with a reading of a dime or quarter, when I go to pin-point mode the ID will change to a negative number. Sometimes I have dug nickles this way other times I have found nothing but trash.

What am I missing in the pin-point mode?

Thanks,
Sodbuster

You must move the coil side to side to get an accurate ID. It is a motion ID detector even in PinPoint .

I have noticed the numbers changes almost everytime I pinpoint, I totally ignore that, unsure why it does that. I can get a solid 36-38 which is normally a copper penny and when I pinpoint it might say a totally different number sometimes even a nagative number, when I dig it up, it is a penny........NORMALLY, not always, could be a piece of copper wire, or something else close to that.

Thanks Goes. That does help. Some of the parks I am working have some pretty trashy areas. Still learning how to make the "durn thang" work. Lots of people with SE's or MXT's. No one that I am aware of in my club who has an X70. So any and all help/advice/encouragement appreciated.

Mostly, I am jealous of those hunters that go out and find something really cool (ring, relic, whatever) in just a little bit. I know it will happen, but like everyone else, I want it to happen NOW.

Keep the faith. Pretty soon some of the other club members will be coming up to you and asking,"How does that durn thang work"?

The x-70 to me is a better machine than a MXT. But that is my opinion, I think it is easier to use, extremely lighter which i highly imporant to me.

You'll find goodies, just keep digging, finds will come!
