are county fairgrounds fair play to MD in or should I try to get permission first? We are close to 3 well used fairgrounds 2 with car/ motorcycle race tracks and 1 with horse races. One is also the site for the California State Fair held every year in late August. I want to detect these areas but dont know how about getting permission if it is even needed. Thanks in advance for any advice..oh and also at the site of the state fair is a huge water park that is packed all summer long. its called raging waters..

I am not sure whether State Fair Grounds are open for MDing or not! You will probably have to check the Internet and look up the names of them and get the numbers to call but if you say you want to detect they will probably refuse you..............I myself would go to the place and try to find out if 
is allowed! I think most State Parks and Fairgrounds are off limits unless they give permits to hunt certain ones! But this is only my opinion and I'm sure someone who detects all the time and in different states could give you what you need to know! Ask and thou wilt receive by asking God to give you favor that whoever you need to inquire to will give you permisson or not bother you if you go detecting there! Good Luck and God Bless!

You are welcome, dobbie, and I hope you have success in hunting the fairgrounds and find the good coins and relics! As Paul said: Go for it, they can only say no, and they could say yes, by having a positive attitude and seeking God to intervene for you! Just might find the Mother Lode!

Some are not public. Go right to the fair office, or check for a web site to see if you can find out. Face to face is best!
