Question for all of the quattro users

I just got a used, great condition Quattro today as a backup machine and I took it in the yard to just test the response everything works fine but I noticed that it was holding onto targets. I didn't dig anything but when I got a good signal and continued the sweep the next target had the same signal but I stoped and swung back and there was no signal. I guess in short I'm saying that if I have a good beep it just keeps beeping good. is this a problem? Hope I explained well enough for you guys to judge. Thanks

Not sure if this helps but when you say the Quattro was holding onto targets do you mean the id on the screen is the same as a previous target? This will happen if the swing is too fast to allow the circuitry to reset. If you were not in all metal mode the signal that you said disappeared on the second swing over it was probably in the range that you had discriminated out and the Quattro got a better look at it the second time. One way to check this would be that the detector will null when it goes over the spot the second time.

Spent some time in the yard with it yesterday, its definitely different than the Explorer. I slowed way down and went to all metal, when I hit a good signal it was hard to find it because all of the signals were good, even stopping and letting the detector reset, it seems that this machine would not be good for trashy areas.

One thing I forgot to mention was the sensitivity, have you tried lowering it to about 9 or even less, it could have been that the signals that disappeared were falsing caused by high sensitivity. You can always look for shallow targets first and then increase the sensitivity later and go over the same ground. I use the Coiltek joey coil on my Quattro all the time except in wet conditions and it is better than the stock coil for trashy areas but still very good in all areas I hunt in my opinion.

I use a 5" SunRay Excellerator coil on my Quattro. Has great target seperation. I did have to reduce the sensitivity to 15 or less, but my depth stays great.
Good Luck.

I had the same problem with the Quattro. Sold it and got an explorer. I ask if this problem had been corrected with the safari and never got a streight answer. Only thing I was told is that it had a faster processor. I'm following this link to see.

i have been using the quattro for about 2yrs. and have had great success however if targets are in close proxmity to one another it may lock on the first target and carry over to the second i have found that if you GO SLOW it will help also last nov. i added the new 11in pro coil and found the response much faster on the re-set side also the depth has improved as well as the sens. if you are using the stock coil go slow so the machine can re-set it self HH
