QUESTION for everyone, regarding my carbon-fiber Deus II shaft (Steve's Detector Rods)...

Howdy all, from Steve's Detector Rods!

In recognition that the base price of my all-carbon-fiber Deus shaft ($259) is a big higher than some would prefer, I'm working on a way to offer the shaft at a lower price.

One of the most expensive pieces of the shaft is the all-carbon-fiber arm cuff; I designed the cuff to include much more carbon-fiber than necessary, with the goal of achieving a weight of about 6 1/2 oz. -- heavy enough to help give the shaft a bit of balance, but while keeping the overall weight of the shaft equal to the standard XP shaft. So -- same overall shaft weight, but better balance. Many folks ask why my carbon shaft is not lighter than the stock shaft, and my answer is that it was done that way INTENTIONALLY -- with better balance being the goal, but at the same overall weight as the stock shaft.

Anyway, with respect to that specifically designed, all-carbon-fiber cuff, it's an expensive cuff to produce, and thus it pushes the price of the shaft up higher than some are able to manage.

For another shaft project, I sourced an aftermarket, plastic arm cuff, that is a pretty nice cuff. It's been in use on one of my shafts for about a year now, and it's been very well-received. I'll include pictures, below. I'm considering offering a version of my Deus shaft, with this cuff, instead of the carbon-fiber cuff. The cuff attaches with a screw, and so I'd include four holes in the upper shaft section, to allow four different positions for arm cuff adjustments.

With this cuff included, instead of my carbon-fiber cuff, it would reduce the overall weight of the shaft by about an ounce -- making it just a bit lighter than the stock shaft. And the good news is that I can offer this shaft (in black) for $199 plus shipping -- a $60 reduction in cost of the shaft, compared to a standard, black, all-carbon-fiber shaft.

I'm trying to gauge if there is enough interest in such a shaft, to proceed with this idea. Please offer your comments, in that regard. If there is enough interest, I'll begin offering this shaft, with the plastic cuff, at a base price of $199 plus shipping. Finally, assuming there ends up being enough interest and I end up offering this shaft, I'll offer an introductory bonus -- FREE SHIPPING, for a limited time.

Thanks everyone, for your continued support.

Thank you!

Steve
