Hey houndawgg,
If your friend was using factory defaults on the Explorer as a test for a depth comparison, then all I can say is that the factory defaults SUCK when it come to depth. I am sure you know that you really need to 'tweak' the Explorer to give you a reasonable outcome as far as finding a target at depth goes, in and out of the water. So how come you resighned to the Explorer not being able to go deeper with those settings.
This is not to say that I do not believe that a GQ or an AS can NOT go deeper, as I am sure , from what I have read ,that they are phenomanal P.I. detectors that can search deep.
I to, am looking at purchasing a P.I unit and I am on the look out for a definative comparison from someone who has done an out right comparison that looks more like it was done with some fairness and not using the factory defaults form the Explorer as a start point.
Does this make sense? or have I misread something?
