Well its more than one question,First if I remem ber correctly there are different version and when you turn the machine on it tells you what version is by the way of numbers ,How many versions are there how can you tell how old is the detector .I had one of the first T2 out of the gate and boy it was a hell of a digger,I could pull a wheat penny at 10 + inches no problem!!!Is there a big difference between the regular T2 and the SE other than the boost feature .is it really that much better ??I'm on the market for a used T2 ...Do people really use these detector on the beach ??.

Push the trigger forward and hold in the button, then turn the machine on. That will tell you what version you have. I believe the first four digits of the serial number tell you the month and year it was made. The serial number is located on the underside of the battery compartment. Both mine are 6.0, one was made in 03-07, and one in 05-07. I can't answer the beach question, but mine has pulled seated coins from the sandy banks of the Illinois River.

Thanks for the info,,,,,I think the T2 is going to be my next detector....Is the se better/////

As far as the SE is concerned I have never used one, so I will leave that for someone else.

The SER,,# 08107417 Does this mean it was made 8th 2010?? Thanks what would be a fair price for a used one its a SE modle...

thanks for the help////

The boost mode mainly is best in tall grass or for when you can't get coil to ground. Works great.

What is 6.0? Just got my used T2 and believe it was made in April 2010 according to the first 4#'s found under the battery box.
Thanks
Mike

this all gets a bit comfusing now, i just came across this video on the net about fake T2'S
just checked the software version on my camo T2 Ltd and it comes up with 6.7 on screen.?

I think the video is trying to sway people away from buying used ones. Mine is ver. 7.8 and was originally purchased from KellyCo. I think I can trust that it is authentic.
