Question on ace 250

Ive been hunting tot lots in the jewelry mode the last 2 weeks . I have found lots of Penny's dimes and nickles, but very few quarters I thought it was just the economy .Today I went back to coin mode and found 17 quarters these had been there a while and I hunt this place about once a week, dose this make any sense ?

The mode shouldn't really change much. All changing modes does is turn notches on and off. I think it might be a function of your mood and how tired you are. When I'm tired and hot my coin count decreases and I dig fewer zinc cents by a lot. I have days where I just cant make it work at all. In fact I had one today. The longer I detected the worse it got as I got more and more frustrated. I dug a handful of coins where I should have had 150-200 with all the time I invested at some good sites. It happens. Sometimes a good heavy rain will improve the detecting at a site too. UW would say you just didn't swing your coil over them so that's why you didn't find them.

I hunt in jewelry mode most of the time.

You can't find treasure where treasure ain't. You just didn't hit those spots dead on before. The deeper the coin the less your signal sees it. At depth your signal can pass within a half inch of it and never see it. Sometime ago I posted a sketch of what happens at depth with your signal. I'll try to dig it up and post it again.

Bill.

In regards to you missing the quarters. This is what happens with your signal after it enters the ground. Even if you overlap each swing 50% you'll still miss a lot of real estate down under.

Thanks guys,I think it is a combination of things, I am stressed out just moved My Father in law in, Hes in bad shape The whole time Im hunting Im thinking I need to be home with him

I agree with the post that said you probably just didn't get your coil over the quarters. My Ace has been HOT
on quarters.

That's why I like to hunt with double"D" coils. More coverage at depth:biggrin:Happy Hunting!:)

Does the same apply to the Excelerator DD coil?

I didn't see your post when I made mine. Double "D" coils get the same depth from toe to heel. Like a knife edge down the middle. They don't go down in a cone like concentric(round)coils do. Happy Hunting:)

I hunt in the Jewlery mode with my GTP 1350 all the time and it kills the quarters! I think I find more quarters at some sites then I do pennies!

No, DD coils detect as deep at either end as they do anywhere else. The signal is wedge-shaped the full length of the coil. That's why pinpointing is done off the tip of the coil.
